DIY HHO Conversion Kits - Can You Make Your Own Hydrogen Car?

!: DIY HHO Conversion Kits - Can You Make Your Own Hydrogen Car?

If you're looking to save money on gas, then a Hydrogen conversion kit is one of the best ways to save some money without the expense of buying a smaller car, or a hybrid. You may have heard of them referred to as HHO systems, Brown's gas, or Oxyhydrogen. Some people also call it running your car on water.

The kits use a process that was patented in 1977 by a man named Yull Brown, which is why HHO is often referred to as Brown's Gas. It involves running electricity through water in a process called electrolysis to cause the water (H2O) to break apart into two Hydrogen atoms and one Oxygen atom (hence, HHO).

The gas is then mixed with the air going into your car's engine and adds to the gas vapor that is burned to make the engine run.

For a variety of reasons (one being that tanks to haul all that water and store the hydrogen in your car are expensive and heavy). It's not possible to run your car solely on HHO, but it is possible to get as much as a 50% increase in mileage. That's like paying .91 a gallon at today's prices!

Some of the benefits of adding a hydrogen conversion kit to your car are:

Make your engine more efficient and increase power.

Make your car friendlier to the environment

Reduce wear on your engine due to less engine strain and increase its longevity

Possibly qualify for IRS tax credits due to using green technology

Have cleaner emissions that are better for the environment

Lower maintenance costs

And of course, improve your mileage by as much as 50%!

The alterations you need to make to your car are minor, and anyone who has some ability to work with tools can create an HHO device. If you aren't comfortable with that, any mechanic can complete the task as well.

While there are expensive units on the market that you can purchase and have professionally installed in your car, they run from 0-00 and take awhile to recoup the costs. Believe it or not you can buy all the parts to make one down at your local hardware store.

A basic kit can be made with only the following, though to get the most bang for your buck a system with a condensation collector is recommended to prevent getting steam and water vapor in your engine:

Distilled water

Quart sized container (many guides also use PVC plumbing pipe as it's more solid)

Electrical wire

Rubber vacuum hose

Baking soda

Adding this system to your car is quick and simple and can also be removed just as quickly as well. It causes no damage to your engine and won't void your warranty. It can even be added to diesels.

Solutions to Your Common Car Problems

!: Solutions to Your Common Car Problems

Like all of us, cars occasionally get sick as well; thus, they need to be regularly checked and maintained to keep them in proper working condition as much as possible. Keeping your vehicle in tip-top shape and condition--whether it's a regular passenger car, a truck, a sport utility or a van--may require you to change some of its auto parts, especially if your vehicle is an older model. Car parts wear out over time so you would need to upgrade them or replace them with higher quality parts.

This is where Auto Parts Deal can be of great help to you. This leading auto parts dealer provides the best options for your replacement part needs. The store offers top of the line BMW parts, Mercedes Benz parts, Ford truck parts, Chevrolet parts and so much more. Whether you are in need of auto parts to upgrade your auto, enhance its looks or simply to replace worn out or faulty parts, you can count on Auto Parts Deal.

Aside from top quality automotive products, you can find here the best deals even on hard to find auto parts for older vehicles. All parts are sourced from the top auto parts manufacturers so be confident that you are getting no less than the best and perfect-fit auto parts for your auto.

Today's featured products include OEM-quality body and exterior auto parts like hood, bumpers, doors, fender, spoilers, wheels and headlights. These parts are exposed to a lot of damaging factors so they need to be properly maintained. The wheels specially are the ones closest to the road so they must be kept in perfect condition all the time.

Explore the store's web site to know more of these products and also for you to see Auto Parts Deal's wider range of auto parts. Meanwhile, you can check the following automotive information, which you may need as you maintain your vehicle.

Auto Parts Deal imparts to you some technical know-how on common car problems. Before you proceed to buy your replacement parts, check if these signs and symptoms are present in your car's systems and parts.

Overheating. You would know your car is overheating when steam starts to billow from your engine compartment. There are many reasons why a car overheats; one could be the lack of water and coolant in the cooling system. Furthermore, there could be some damages to the cooling system parts like the radiator, the water pump and the gaskets. Your car may also be overloaded so you need to unload some of your cargoes.

In case you need replacement radiators, you can go to Auto Parts Deal. Available are hard wearing and high quality Ford radiators, Chevrolet radiators, GMC radiators, Jeep radiators and Honda radiators.

Starting Failure. If your engine fails to start, there could be something wrong with the ignition system. The starter could be damaged and needs to be replaced. Also, check the fuel filter. Even when not specified in your manual, you need to replace the fuel filter often, not just clean it, to ensure that your engine is getting clean fuel for combustion. This further ensures your vehicle's maximum performance.

Brake failure. If your brake fails to hold and you hear screeching sound, better go to a mechanic immediately and have your brake checked. Faulty brakes are among the major causes of car accidents so don't wait for another day to go to a repair shop. Moreover, check your tires and wheels.

Rust and Corrosion. Over time, some parts of your car may wear out due to rust. This is especially true to body panels, including the doors, the hood, and the fenders. Rust is not good for your car since it could depreciate the value of your vehicle. The best way to avoid it is to clean your vehicle regularly.

If your body parts have been severely damaged by rust, you may have no other choice but to replace them. Keeping them good looking is a must, especially if still wish to resell it in the future in case you would want to buy a new and more up-to-date model. You can check out the store's featured exterior parts and body panels such as Toyota doors, Ford hood and Honda fender.

Replacement wheels can be bought at Auto Parts Deal as well. Remanufactured and new alloy and steel wheels with or without hubcaps, including best quality Jeep wheels, Mazda wheels, BMW wheels and Toyota wheels are available.

Male vs. Female Car Preferences

!: Male vs. Female Car Preferences

Registration records of new 2005 and 2006 models cars from January 2006 to the present reveal much about American men's and women's preferences for cars.

Overall, men tend to love luxurious, high performance cars, preferably with a horsepower of 367 or more (for women, the top five models had an average 172 hp). On the other hand, women prefer cars that are affordable, practical and safe, and with a dash of design flair, as evidenced by the Eclipse Spyder convertible, which had the highest percentage of female registrants of any car on the market. It was followed by Toyota Motor's RAV4 sport utility vehicle (SUV).Another Eclipse model, the hardtop Eclipse coupe, ranked as fourth highest in registration, marking it out as a true women's car.

The survey prompted one observer to comment that the 2003 movie "2 Fast 2 Furious" prominently featured the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder but that it was portrayed as a man's car belonging to the angry, muscular ex-convict played by Tyrese Gibson. In the movie, the Gibson character drove a purple Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder.

It was an interesting point. Registration records do, in fact, indicate that men tend to buy feminine cars but women rarely purchase male-oriented, testosterone-fueled sports and luxury cars. For instance, the Eclipse Spyder, which is the most popular car among women, was also the car of choice among 34.2% of male registrants.

On the other hand, when it came to the most popular male vehicles in the market, registration figures showed that women don't seem to be all that interested. For instance, not a single woman registered Honda Motor's Acura NSX sports car this year while only 1.8% of registrants of DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG performance sedan have been women.

As far as particular brands are concerned, the idea that you can sell a woman's car to a man, but you can't sell a man's car to a woman also holds true .The brand that has had the highest percentage of female registrants so far this year, General Motors' Pontiac subsidiary, still sells cars to a buying populace that is 47% male. Meanwhile, DaimlerChrysler's Dodge subsidiary, which has the highest percentage of male registrants -- and only 14.8% of people who have registered a Dodge this year have been women.

How to Spot a Run Your Car on Water Hoax

!: How to Spot a Run Your Car on Water Hoax

Knowing how to spot a run your car on water hoax can not only save you money when you buy a guide or product, but can potentially save you from completely destroying your car by way of attempting dangerous modifications to it.

So exactly how do spot a run your car on water hoax? Let's take a look at some of the factors to look out for on a website that is selling or promoting these types of products, keeping in mind that there ARE legitimate and working methods out there, you just need to wade through the hoaxes to find them.

Lack of Scientific Information

Scammers know that the topic of water fuel cars is hot and that people are willing to spend money to gain information. So many unscrupulous marketers forgo scientific fact to cash in on this new trend. They believe that making money is more important than providing real and useful information to people, leading to inaccurate and dangerous methods making their way to you, with the potential to ruin your car. If the site promoting a particular run your car on water product contains no scientific facts whatsoever then this should raise alarm bells.

Unbelievable Claims

Sites claiming that you can "stop using gas altogether", "double or triple your mileage" or even "generate free energy" scream hoax and should be steered well clear of.

Fake Testimonials

Most sites selling run your car on water products have many testimonials. Unfortunately many are also fake so if the testimonials sound just a little too hyped up or over the top, chances are they are made up by the hoax artist.

High Profile Affiliate Programs

This is not the only way to tell if a water fuel offer is a hoax, as some very legitimate products run an affiliate program. Affiliate programs basically pay a commission to someone who leads a customer to a sale of the product. Some water fuel products advertise their affiliate program as a small part of their business, perhaps with a small link at the bottom of the site. The run your car on water sites that seem to make their affiliate program sign up a priority on the page are the ones you should be suspicious of. It is likely that these sites are run by marketers or scammers and not people with scientific knowledge on the subject.

Unexpected Costs in Log Home Construction

!: Unexpected Costs in Log Home Construction

You won't go far without hearing horror stories about log home owners who went way over budget, ran out of money before the project was through, and generally had a terrible building experience. I'm sure there are as many tales as there are people, and I'm just as sure I haven't even heard most of them. Assuming that your initial construction budget is realistic, here are a few points that might make the unexpected a little easier to plan for. A good builder will have already taken care of many of these suggestions, but it couldn't hurt to be certain that the costs are covered in the original quote.

WEATHER: Weather delays are probably the biggest bugaboos. Time is money, and every week that your house sits in the rain and snow is another week you are paying interest on your construction loan (we won't even talk about exposure). Ideally, you should plan the log delivery so that, bare minimum, your roof is on and windows are installed before winter hits. Is waiting until Spring a good idea? Well, April showers create a sea of mud that could bog down the heavy equipment. The mud will be inevitable, but perhaps waiting for a dryer summer would speed things along?

EASE OF ACCESS: Some of the more isolated properties can be inaccessible by a 55-foot truck. First of all, make sure your local bridges are designed to take the weight of a laden truck (and no, you can't divide the total weight in half because only one axle is on the bridge at a time). If the truck can't navigate the curves, incline, or surface of the road, you might have to offload the logs onto a smaller vehicle. This necessitates another forklift (one for the big truck, one for the little truck). In the worst case scenario, a helicopter comes into play.

JOB SITE PREPARATION: You might be tempted to throw down a quick-and-dirty layer of gravel to accommodate the machinery, but in the end you may be creating even bigger problems. If the trucks get stuck on an inadequate surface, you may be the one to pay for towing... and again, you'll experience delays. Especially if using a gravel driveway, have the full driveway laid in first with the riprap as a foundation. If it gets chewed up a bit, repairing it will be cheaper in the long run than the alternative. When laying down the gravel driveway, make sure you add a section at least 50x50 sq. ft. for the logs to sit. Then cover that section with thick plastic sheeting. The last thing you want is to see your beautiful logs dumped in the mud.

If you decide to take the whole house delivery at once, including lumber, plywood, windows and all, you're going to need to store them. You may have to rent one or more trailers to protect your stuff from the elements (and dare I suggest, theft?). If at all possible, take delivery in more than one shipment, even if the initial expense is higher.

Also, make sure provisions are made for a dumpster and portable potties; you won't regret it.

TARPS: You're going to find yourself acting like a log baby-sitter for a while. Whenever possible, the logs should be protected by tarps, nicely fastened with bungie cords against the wind. But you'll be amazed at how many tarps you're going to need. I've even seen builders cover the whole unfinished structure with tarps, though that's the exception rather than the rule.

POWER: Most builders will give you a few days' allowance for power, but after that, you may get charged for that expensive generator. Instead, you can arrange for the electric company to erect a temporary panel on site for the power tools. They have to bring the power lines to your house anyway. Make provisions for this way ahead of time. Also verify way ahead of time whether the telephone company has service on your street.

CHAIN-SAW WORK ON SITE: This is a little difficult to prepare for, since we usually don't know what questions to ask. I know of one person who was completely unaware that the stair timbers needed to be cut on site. Also, not every log home company sizes the window holes exactly. One side might line up, but the other side might need to be cut to measure. Another couple I knew was surprised to discover that an inside archway through a solid log wall needed to be cut on site. They were not skilled enough to attempt the task, and had to track down a person willing to take the responsibility - for a big price. Sometimes logs need to be notched on site. All these things get added to the bill.

ALLOWANCES: This can be a big budget buster. Whenever possible, pick out and budget your own fixtures, kitchen, flooring, countertops, etc. rather than take an allowance from the builder. The likelihood of finding something in the price range allowed for the item is pretty slim. If you start far enough ahead, you can buy certain expensive appliances and luxuries and put them into storage. Try to have all the items ready for installation before they are needed. Remember to plan ahead for extra light fixtures; this item is one of the most frequently neglected necessities in the house.

CHANGE ORDERS: If you want to stay in budget, NEVER make a change after the work has been done. Change orders make the cash register sing. Try to stay ahead of the project, so if you perceive a change while still in the planning stage, a good builder will work with you at no extra charge.

WHO DOES WHAT? In our experience, the only time things went really astray is when we tried to bring in our own trades, who inevitably clashed with the builder's subs. The biggest fight was who would wire the septic pump: the electrician or the excavator. We hired the excavator, and the electrician walked off the job because he refused to wire the excavator's pump. We were flabbergasted, and it took over a month to get another (inferior) electrician to finish the house... another month's rent, another month's interest.

Not all problems can be foreseen, but conventional wisdom tells us to add a 10-20% slush fund to the budget to allow for unexpected cost over-runs. Bare minimum, you may need to tap into this fund to bridge the gap between the subs getting paid and your next construction loan draw. Planning this buffer is not going to be easy, but in the end, it might save you a whole lot of headaches - and an ulcer or two.

Car Stereo Repair

!: Car Stereo Repair

Have you ever experienced problems with getting your car speakers to work? Since I think many of us car owners have experienced this problem, I will provide this description of how to diagnose the problem of silent speakers and also give you some hints on how to fix it. Whether you are familiar with car stereo repair or not, this might help you. If it doesn't, contact a dealer who can do an auto stereo repair or search for vehicle stereo repair help online. If your stereo speakers don't work, then try

checking the speakers to see if they are disconnected checking all fuses that are related to the auto speakers tightening the butt connectors to the speakers replacing all or some of the butt connectors

If your speakers are still not working, I recommend that you test the auto speakers that don't work directly:

Disconnect each speaker that doesn't work from the car's wires and do the test below, doing one at a time. Use a 9v battery and connect its leads to each auto speaker to be tested for a short moment. Does the speaker have movement? Do you hear the sound usually known as a 'pop' or thump?

If your answers to the questions above are 'yes', your speaker will probably be able to make sound and it is likely to work.

Also note which way the speaker are moving, whether in or out of its frame during the test. Thus you can also determine your auto speakers polarity when connecting them up to the amplifier up in the front. If the cone of your speaker moves out of the basket, the lead going to the positive of the battery is the positive lead of the speaker. If it goes in the opposite direction, the lead hooked to the negative of the battery is positive of your auto speaker.

This speaker direct test has two possible results: Either the speaker is not able to make sound or it is. If the first is the case, your speaker are dead and you must replace it. If the latter is the case, you should

run new speaker wires and rewire perform the 'popper' tests to get the polarity correct as described above

Now, if this problem still persists you can at least rest assure that the reason is not your speaker. The reason is probably one of the following: Either it is caused by

problems in the deck itself or the connections from the deck.

In this case I recommend that you contact a vehicle stereo repair shop or do a search online to get information about how to fix these problems.

Run Your Car On Water - Boost Your Mileage And Help The Environment

!: Run Your Car On Water - Boost Your Mileage And Help The Environment

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the oil companies have perpetuated the fallacy that our cars need their product to run for a very long time. Its important to note that most of the original automobiles ran on much more natural fuels than petroleum. Mr Diesel (the creator of the diesel engine) ran his first engine on peanut oil and until he conceded under pressure from the oil companies, all of Henry Ford's cars ran on ethanol (grain alcohol fuel).

Our cars all use what are called Internal Combustion Engines. There are two types of these engines: ones that need 3 things to run and ones that need 2. The ones that need 3 things are your standard engine. They need air, a fuel and a spark. When the air and fuel mixture is right (not to rich, not too lean) and the spark happens, vroom! You have a functional engine. The other type uses more controlled fuel and doesn't need the spark - the fuel explodes from pressure alone. These engines are commonly known as diesel engines.

Now you've all heard the stories of people running diesel engines on vegetable oil, or oil from a deep fry machine at a restaurant. This is called biodiesel, its not a myth, you can even buy it at the pump now in many places. I've run my 1984 Mercedes-Benz diesel on this with no conversion at all.

So the question is, if diesels can run on this great fuel, what about gas engines that most of us drive? Well, they can run on all sorts of things. Many gas stations for years now have been providing Ethanol or Methanol blended gas. What this means is that they blend about 10% Ethanol or Methanol into the gasoline to improve its power and give it a cleaner burn.

How do they do this? They do this by making the gasoline more stable. The more stable the fuel is, the more likely it is to ignite at the correct time, and burn more completely. This is, of course, a simplification, but it is essentially why these blended fuels exist. The reason they add these grain alcohol blends is because the cost of oil is forcing refineries to make gas with a lower and lower octane rating. The lower the octane rating the less power the gas has and the worse it burns when your engine is hot. Back in the 1960's premium gasoline had an octane rating of 107. Now its 93 at best. This means that the fuel you put in your car is simply inferior to what it used to be. There are a lot of ads these days about cars being able to drive 500 miles on a tank of gas. In 1941 Nash named their one of their cars the Nash Rambler 600 because it drove 600 miles on a tank of gas (25.8mpg).

It would seem like I've digressed, but this all comes full circle with the question of what can we do to make modern gas more stable and burn better? What can we add to the gas to improve it? Ethanol and Methanol are definite possibilities, but why should we spend all the energy of growing crops, using fuel to harvest them and transport the grain and refine it when there is something far more abundant that can be used to achieve the same goal: water.

The thought of burning water seems crazy, as it did to me the first time I heard of it. But then I had the logical thought... what does water consist of? Well, Hydrogen and Oxygen. When you run your car, the two things that are the active fuel are the gasoline and the oxygen in the air. Well sheesh, water is rather amazing when you think of it. it contains two things that can be used as fuel, but in its natural state is safe and easy to transport.

The question is then how do you separate the two and how efficient is it to do so? A lot of people have asked the same question over the years and as it turns out it depends on how much hydrogen you want. If you want to run your car on only hydrogen, then there's a bit of work involved and some tuning you need to do on how your car mixes its air and fuel. If you want to put a moderate amount of hydrogen into your car to improve the quality of its fuel and lower its emissions then its actually very easy.

Without getting into the technical aspects, what you want is not exactly pure hydrogen, but something known as HHO, or Brown's gas (also known as Rhodes Gas, Greengas, and Hydroxy). This gas can be extracted from water by a number of methods. Believe it or not, most cars can be easily converted to accept a boost from HHO converted from water right in the car. There are a lot of great resources out there to do this and get more out of your car, lower your fuel cost, and benefit the environment.
